Men in Their 30s and 40s: What Makes You Want a Second Date?

I’ve been seeing so many posts lately about Dating apps and subsequent dates... between loss of interest, lack of follow-through, fear of commitment, emotional availability, etc., I made the experience myself whilst using dating apps. And it made me wonder:

For men between 35–45, what do you actually value most in a woman when dating seriously?

I’ve gone on various dates recently, and in a few cases I genuinely liked the guy and expressed that I’d love to see him again. But the interest wasn’t mutual, or it faded quickly afterward.

So I’m curious from a male perspective:
What usually makes you lose interest after a first date, even if the date seemed good?
What makes you want a second date vs. deciding not to continue?

I’m not asking defensively, I’m honestly trying to understand how men in this age range think about dating and connection today.
