I'm currently about to do a VK swap on my 2019 Frontier, and since that motor has a lot more torque I'm switching out the transmission as well. You kind of have to.

The VQ40DE in the Frontier is dead, but the transmission (RE5R05A) is still in pretty good shape. Which got me to thinking...

My dad has gifted me a 2000 Fronty with a few problems, the biggest being that it has a transmission that won't go into drive unless you use 1st or 2nd to get up to around 30 mph first. It also won't run smooth at all if it's even the slightest bit cold outside.

Instead of buying a whole new transmission for this new (old) truck, could I use the RE5R05A from my 2019 instead, mating it to the VG33 already in it? Would I need an adapter plate of some sort? Or should I just sell this transmission to get another one?

Thanks in advance.
