Found my tribe

Found my tribe

Great walk with a neighbor I just became acquainted with. The crazy guy on the porch with his even crazier dog, waving and smiling back. Retired life ain’t too shabby. He almost got nicked with Cauda Equina Syndrome but they caught it in time. Great! ‘Cause his plate is a hot mess. Great attitude, super friendly, and we both need to take it slow and steady. His boy got along great with my girl. Right in time for my other crazy redhead to get home from some sneaky birthday stuff for her man. Also getting a much needed haircut. “Starting to look feral again” she said. She’s only had rescues lol. Got a Jamaican neighbor. City life ain’t too bad I guess

HBD kiddo

You should try yoga. You should shut your pie hole. Finally gave it a shot after enough suffering when I saw a picture on the internet. Oooooohhhhhh. Ok. Got it. Wasn’t expecting the rest of the shit to come with it lol good lord. Also, my dad not being able to tie his own shoes and my tight hammies was where I was headed. No thanks. Today, Roberto and Dano wished me a happy birthday. Money is changing hands again lol. Suckers. Legionnaires disease, sepsis, toxic encephalopathy, and a 118 sodium level didn’t do it. Yawn

Stepping on the mat led me to the life I have now. A life I can’t stop laughing about because it’s so ridiculous. Love, war, and everything else. Horses and golf courses, no ladies while I was in a relationship with my yoga mat. 5 years a celibate yogi. Pain of regret? Wouldn’t know it. Pain of discipline? Lemme get seconds. Sold my humble little auto repair shop to our mechanic of 30 years in 2020. Deal closed in May. Perfect timing. Became permanently disabled a year later. Cauda Equina Syndrome got me after I rode the sciatica lightning for a couple years. Not quite as painful as the bone on bone left hip for nearly a decade, but a very close second

Thanks fellas 🙏🏻

CES

I almost broke my back again jumping to answer this Jeopardy! question lol. I was less than a year post op recuperating on the couch with my legs elevated to knock down the swelling. Wasn’t ready for compression socks. Got some cute ones now. Mine was on the left side before things got weird. Hallucinations, bladders, and bowls oh boy. No more sciatica though. I’ll take nerve zaps and cramps and the bladder and bowel stuff over that nonsense. One of the worst pains I’ve experienced. Yuck

✌🏻

Love, war, and everything in between. Peace sells but who’s buying? Me, that’s who. Whirled peas, please. Lots of butter. Have fun in Iran nerds. Shoulda stopped after Desert Storm but that war boner lasted a bit too long lol. Suckers

Appetizer

Sciatica was the appetizer. CES was the main course. Retirement is the dessert. I’ve been thru far worse than this lol. I’d rather shit my pants daily than ever deal with the public again. Or most people in general. Be kind to your spine. 150 pounds, in the best shape of my life. Don’t let em fat shame you. They love the low hanging fruit. Gabapentin didn’t do anything. My PCP did less. A handle of Tito’s everyday it is then. The VA overall has been nothing short of stellar with my care. Only outlier was the do nothing former PCP. Other than that? ETS’d in 1992, enrolled in 2019. Glad I did when I did lol. It’s been kinda nuts

One last ride

“The older I get, the better I was” reads the sticker on my wakeboard as a reminder. Sciatica was raging, 45 years of shredding on that lake, and others, before my disc yeeted the nerves in the Cauda Equina bundle handed me an early retirement lol. 40 years of work was enough. A stint in the Army sandwiched in between the career. Now I’m a feral disabled anonymous bum living my best life with not one but two pretty redheads that are crazier than me. Love, war, and everything in between. Now I eat supper early

Pain is weakness leaving the body, he said. Nah. That was the feeling below my waist leaving for a pack of cigarettes and never coming back dummy. Sciatica turned into Cauda Equina Syndrome. 3 months on a walker, 5 months with a Foley, shit my pants multiple times on the daily. A whole lotta other shit going on in the background too. Took my licks, and got back after it. Being in the best shape of my life pre injury spared me from a far worse fate I know that much (yoga). 4.5 years later, found love again, shot a 5 over 77 from the tips (quiet legs 😉), and I just got promoted to permanent and total soup sandwich, unemployable to boot. Couldn’t afford me anyway. Be kind to your spine
