I wasn’t specifically looking for it, but when I saw it, I couldn’t resist getting it.
The V 120 is a truly unique construction. It uses the frame and running gear of a class 78 steam locomotive, but instead of a boiler, it has a diesel engine connected to an air compressor that drives the pistons. The design certainly has a steampunk aesthetic, particularly with its bulky appearance and the two large radiators on each end. But looks alone couldn't save the prototype. It was a commercial failure and only one was ever built.
