I am going to paint'em black, I just was too excited not to share how good they looked right away

The railroad is at the back of my yard so instead of running a long extension cord, I got a solar panel and regulator at Harbor Freight! At 12v it doesn't run at full speed, but that's a bit too fast anyway. Next step is leveling the ground beneath it and laying ballast!
These 7 N scale tank engines make up the steam powered collection of Tischwil Museum of steam.
They are all older (some rather ancient) models that have been converted to DCC with decoders, coreless motors and stayalive condensers installed.
They all live on the layout permanently and have their space together in the locomotive shed. This thinking has prevented me from buying more locos than I need :). Let's see how long that lasts...
Does anyone else name their locos? :)
New metro rolling stock was spotted at the station being hauled to the depot by a locomotive during the night.
So I bought this guy about a month ago he was second hand but serviced by the seller, he was fine until today when I was putting another loco into a siding with him when I noticed he wasn’t moving, I picked him up and found this, I don't know how it happened and I don't know how to fix it, he was at a model railway show yesterday and was working perfectly, I didn't run him after the show but the drive back from the show to my house was less then 10 mins and not rough.
I have been building this layout for the last year but I'm reluctant to start sticking and nailing anything down because it makes it permanent.
I want to add grass to the layout so that I can then nail down the track.
Static grass seems to be a huge undertaking for this project with it being such a large area but I have heard mixed things about using rolls of grass.
I'm considering two rolls of Woodland Scenics 50x100" Grass Roll.
Can anyone advise which way to go and in what order to do it.
Should I glue down the risers, then grass or put grass down over the whole area then glue and decorate the risers.
I will also be putting in a mountain (using the cardboard boxes as a placeholder. Should I build this before or after grass?
Thank you for any advice.
Photos from my assistant, since I'm in a wheelchair.
Finished building this wood Silver Streak 50’ double door boxcar kit a couple of days ago. I used “My Perfect Color’s” match to Floquil Boxcar Red to match the car sides. Kadee 148 couplers and Kadee Bettendorf trucks were installed, as these later Walthers owned versions of these kits excluded both items. I am planning to add cut levers and angle cocks to it in the near future.
Ever wonder what happens after the last metro leaves the station?
In order smallest to biggest: Union Pacific 4432, Southern Pacific 2487, Pere Marquette 1225
As much as I love the BR coaches, I kinda don’t like the prices rn, so I decided to get some Athearn coaches from different shows and paint over them using enamel.
Brought out my layout again after a year and a bit of not using it and all my bachmann thomas models are real choppy and have a bad smell to them. I have a hornby hogwarts express that runs perfectly. Any help will be appreciated
Hey everyone, I'm looking to buy an airbrush to custom paint and weather some models. I have plenty of extra shells and such to practice on, but I've seen a lot of different opinions on what airbrush to get. Does anyone have any good recommendations for beginning airbrushes? And any general tips for the process? Thanks!
I'm still blown away by the fact that hunderds of people worldwide seem to actively care about this little world I'm tinkering away at in my room. I want to say thank you to all of you! Your enthusiasm, inspiration and feedback really help me stay motivated and just simply fill me with joy every time.
I've now decided it may be time to make some social media pages for the layout, to maybe reach some more people and keep pictures and videos collected somewhere. So, if you enjoy seeing the progress on Tischwil and my latest modeling projects, consider following Tischwil on Instagram or Facebook. I would appreciate it greatly.
Limited space, so I went with a 10'x2' switching layout using unitrack. Give me your critiques, tips, hints etc. Always wanted one and decided on an interpretation of a Bay Area port scene with a city area split by a BART viaduct.
