As a former employee, I can agree to the recent post on them. Leadership is out of touch with direct client care as they don’t even talk to clients unless it is to say hello and then leave. They don’t have any direct work with them anymore which shows how far removed they are from the work being done. Yet, they are the first to make changes about how the work should be done. This organization is about “who you know, not what you know”. If you push against anything with leadership, you’re on their radar and they want to hush you. There are people in leadership positions that shouldn’t be as any other organization. Some are worse than others.

Employees at SummitStone are AMAZING and make the world go round although SHP is leadership heavy/ top heavy for no reason. They need more people on the ground than directing others on what to do. They need to invest in the teams they do have instead of firing people left and right when they can’t even keep people because of their bad decisions as an organization.

Leadership feels fake and puts on a smile instead of being “real” and admitting they messed up in regards to financial health of the organization, employee turnover and attitude toward the organization, mismanagement etc. They 100% have favoritism towards certain people and programs which is disappointing because they miss out on all the other work being done in different parts of the agency.

I am personally disappointed in them as a former employer and I know many staff that deserved better. They have had plenty of chances to correct their decisions, make major organization changes in their leadership team, and support their current employees by actually listening. Do you think they’ve done that? No.

So if you’re interested in working there, be hesitant. Question things. There are some amazing people there and there are also some really horrible people.

Just because someone is a LPC, LCSW, RN, LAC, PMP, manager, director, or even CEO etc doesn’t mean they’re good at what they do. They have just figured out how to play the game and kiss up to the right people. And if they are reading this- good. You should be questioning yourself and if you actually embody the mission and values because I guarantee you likely don’t.
