The increased Quick Match map bans are a gamechanger.
This is a change I haven't seen too many people discuss but it's soooo welcome. I don't care too much about my rank but when I'm first learning a new civ (Jin atm), I do prefer hopping into QM for a bit before trying my hand at ranked. Don't want to needlessly tank my rank and the games can be a little less sweaty.
But before I could only last for so long before I simply couldn't take playing some of those whacky maps anymore like Haywire or play water map after water map that doesn't really help me practice my land gameplay. There were entire evenings where I didn't play a single game that felt like it helped me prepare for the Dry Arabia and Gorge matches I would soon play in ranked.
But with the extra bans, I'm playing a ton more 'normal' games on competitive maps and can get some actual meaningful practice in. And at the same time those other maps are still there for people who just want to have some fun with whackier strategies.
Massive fan of this change.
