Hi everyone, I’m Barry, 43, from Germany, and this is my first post here. Man, time really flies! It’s been over 20 years since I watched the first episode of Lost, and already 16 years since the finale aired.
Now I’m rewatching it for the first time together with my wife, who has never seen Lost before. We’re watching it on Disney+ and usually binge 2–3 episodes at a time. Thinking back to the old days, when we had to wait forever between episodes — or even whole seasons — is just crazy.
Lost has always been something special to me. No other TV show ever had such a huge impact on my life. Back then, everyone was talking about it — at work, with friends, everywhere. Not to mention all the fans on the forums analyzing every single frame of each episode. It was such a cool time, and so many memories are coming back now while rewatching it. A lot of things from my life back then are resurfacing because of Lost. Good memories and bad ones too.
Right before the series finale aired, my girlfriend at the time broke up with me. That was such a long time ago, but Lost somehow made me think about her again. I wonder what she’s doing today. Don’t get me wrong though — I’m not sad thinking about it. That was a completely different life, brother!
It’s just a shame that apparently none of the old forums survived.
While rewatching, I’ve realized I forgot quite a lot. But at the same time, there are scenes I still remember as if I watched them yesterday. Right now we’re close to the end of season 3, and so far this season feels like the most confusing one. My wife constantly asks me what’s going to happen next, who dies, and what comes next. Today she said she hopes everything will be explained in the end. Well… she might end up disappointed, but we’ll see.
I’m really curious to see how I personally feel about the ending now, and whether it hits differently than it did 16 years ago. I’d be happy to post updates here as we keep watching :)
