Difference between fine and “coarse” side on strop? Isn’t it the diamond or chromium oxide compound doing the work, not the leather?

I’m buying a two sided strop and I’m curious about the difference

I wanna buy the spartan in serrated(hate me all you want) but it comes with gray handles, and I want the black handles. The black sadly only comes in the plain edge version, and since if i buy it im replacing the handle i might as well get some good materials.

bottom half is serrated but i use a rat tail file to make it so the entire thing is white which is why the bottom half looks like it disappeared. I also tried scratching off the coating but gave up. I used a 600 grit. the light was shining just right on the edge so it just flashes the camera. It's sharp enough to shave and I'm happy to announce my arms are now bald. It looks kinda weird since the image was blurry and i put it through an enhancer. It was 10 bucks and i got it a while back lol.

I sharpened a cheap 10 dollar gas station knife till it could shave. Kinda rough on my skin but it worked. Happily surprised since I only had 400 and 600 grit. I watched a couple Youtube videos(2-3) and a week later(today) I tried it on my knife, and came back with great results. Do you guys think I really need a strop and a 1000 or higher grit sharpening stone?
