My ex assumed my kid would spend Mother's Day with his mom.
One of my kids is 18 and lives with me. For Mother's Day, my ex told them to make plans with ex's mom who I will call Grandma. Grandma is not even a good grandparent. Her type of "humor" is just straight insulting people, she tends to have a cruel way of "ribbing" as banter and while that may be fine for people with a mutual vibe, my kid hates this behavior. My kid is pretty sensitive and would rather people just be nice and say what they mean. Grandma is always "just joking" and making weird comments about others, making fun of others behind their back. One of Grandma's own kids is estranged. Just went NC and noped out of there.
Anyway, my kid, who seldom stands up to their dad about anything, firmly said "I want to spend Mother's Day with my mom." and didn't budge when ex complained about how sad and disappointed Grandma would be. I was so proud 🥲
