Ellen needs to make some changes

Don't downvote me to oblivion for this, but Ellen should take a pay cut. She deserves all her financial success from those early seasons, but not for the current work. Watching her now it's obvious she's mentally checked out and stiff as a board. Someone in another post said it could be the Botox, but other actresses make it work. That finale should have had her distraught and emotional but nope she barely gave us anything. The actors around her were all much better than she was. If she cares about the crew and paycheck as she's said in interviews, she'd put in some actual effort or take a pay cut to stay on the cast. She would still make money from Grey's older catalog and streaming. She can keep narrating without being on screen as they've been doing since she stepped back.

Her latest project on Hulu wasn't stellar. It had viewers because the real story itself was in the news for years plus millions of Grey's fans watched it. I watched it to support her, but she was not amazing in it. Compare that to Sandra Oh who doesn't make the amount of money Ellen does but still puts in every drop of skill and effort she put into Grey's. Patrick Dempsey has a new project and he's excellent in it. I try to support the Grey's cast whenever I can. Ellen leaving Grey's has given her the time to do whatever she wants. She can work behind the scenes which she seems to like. If she's talented she can still have a great career. If not, she's still financially set for the rest of her life.

Daisy's Parents-They didn't have to be someone we "know" to be important to the story

People are really wanting to figure out why Daisy was given up to raise. Here's my totally fictional imaginings about Daisy's real parents.

Daisy belonged to Jack and Jane Smith. They're accountants that met in high school. Jack loves history documentaries. Jane is well read and studied politics before switching majors sophomore year of college. Their lives we're pretty ordinary.

It was Jane that noticed at first that very far right politicians were being elected to small positions in the US government. The public had a long history of electing Democrats for a time and then swinging far to the right after the next election cycle, so this didn't really affect the populous. However, Jack the historian notices that ever since the 2010s the Republicans went more to the right and the Democrats did as well. What would have been too center right for Democrats in the 1900s was the norm. He writes a fantastic book about what he observes. It's not a bestseller, but it is so well researched that he's featured in several newspapers and podcasts. Academia starts paying attention to his book and he's invited to tour the Ivy League universities as a guest lecturer.

Now that Jack and Jane have some money put away, they decide it's time to really try for a family. They buy a modest house in suburbia and start tracking Janes cycle. Jack writes a second book. This time Jane helps with the research and it's even better than the first book. He's low on the NYT bestseller list and far right politicians start calling him out by name to their fanbase. After 2 rounds of IVF they had Daisy. Jack and Jane love her to the moon and back.

When she was 2 years old the writing was on the wall that project 2055 was going to be worse than the uneducated public was being led to believe. Supporters of the far right call, email, and confront Jack and Jane on the streets. Jack sells his house and rents an apartment near the Canadian border. Jane wisely insists he convert his dollars to gold. Jack made a plan to go to Canada to stay with some relatives while everything blows over. Surely nothing could topple the empire that is the United States?

Van packed they make the trip but get into an accident on the freeway just over the border. A tired trucker hit them head on while trying to make his deadline with a shipment of water to Superlowmart headquarters. Decades of water pollution in America has led to constant demand and shipping companies can't keep up. Jane didn't make it. Jack survived 2 days in intensive care before succumbing to his injuries. The police looked through their belongings and found the contact information for his cousin who runs a clothing store in the next province. That woman is Daisy's distant cousin who agrees to take care of Daisy.

Daisy's cousin (I forget her name) runs a successful thrift shop with her husband. She never forgot what happened to Jack her favorite cousin. Those bastards, the Sons of Jacob, have led to thousands of Americans crossing into Canada and rent prices are through the roof. She starts attending meetings of a small organization who wants change. As the years pass they become Mayday. Her busy shop is the perfect way to get information to the various Mayday operatives and goes undetected for over 10 years. Daisy lives with her adoptive parents until they are murdered via arson/explosion. Jack and Jane aren't even a line in the history of the rise of Gilead, but to the members of Mayday they were integral to keeping the flow of information coming. They'll never be forgotten.

The End
