Mom can’t remember which is her underwear and wears mine.
Hi everyone, so my mother can’t remember which of her underwear (as in panties not bras) is hers and sometimes ends up wearing mine until I see them in her laundry and I’m like wtf those are mine. She normally apologizes and says she didn’t know. Now I know you can just wash them and they’re clean but it always grosses me tf out when she wears my underwear. It always makes me so mad and grossed out and I genuinely dont understand how someone cannot recognize their own underwear.
This kind of stuff used to happen too when I was a teenager but I was wearing a different size of underwear so it was like « easier » to differenciate which were hers and which were mine. Now recently I moved back in with my parents temporarily and we‘re now wearing the same size and since we both take off the tags cuz we find them itchy, we can’t put our initials on the tag. So the solution I came up with was to wash my stuff separatly even tho sometimes it’s very small loads to make sure she doesn’t take my stuff.
That was working well for a while and now this morning again I find my underwear in her laundry and I’m like I’ve been looking for this pair for a while, you have them! As per usual she argues that no, it’s hers and blablabla, I tell her to pull up her store receipt in her online account (cuz I know she bought that kind of underwear at the same store after me so she would have them purchased on her account if she did buy the same as me). Turns out she bought the same color but as bikini briefs and not a thong (as usual, again). That’s usually what happens, she wears my underwear which is either a similar color or same color as hers but different cut (I mostly have thongs and she, bikini briefs). Now she got lowkey annoyed at me when I got angry at her for not recognizing her own panties cuz « it’s not her fault she can’t remember». Since I was gone 2 of the past 3 weeks, I guess I must’ve forgotten to pick them up from the drying rack before leaving and she took them but has it been a week, 2, 3 of her wearing them? Idk.
Normally I put them in the trash so there’s no more mix up but these are organic cotton and so on the pricier side so ain’t no way I’m getting rid of them.
She’s 54 so not that old and she’s always mixed up our underwear so it’s not something that comes with age. I am beyond tired of this happening like you wear the same 10-12 underwear on repeat, how can you not recognize them??! To me that’s seriously worrisome like it’s not something you grab every few months so you got mixed up. You have them up your butt crack every damn day, like remember them please??!
So yeah I’m half venting, half in need of advice/does this happen to you girls too?
I told her she should monogram her panties but she doesn’t want to. I’m thinking of forcing her to sow a little red thread or something so she can recognize them cuz I really don’t think I should be the one to do that since I have never had an issue recognizing my stuff. Maybe I won’t have a choice though…
