I found a baby slider turtle at work today. I work at a big parking lot with hundreds of trucks constantly moving through it. It’s no telling how the baby hasn’t been crushed already. But I couldn’t just leave it there. Anyway I have it in a bin here at my job (I just moved it into a bin bc it was in a small box) and I was planning to release it in a nearby wooded area it seemed to be heading towards, but the temperature tonight is expected to drop below 45 degrees where I live & google said that it’s dangerous for baby turtles bc they might not have enough time or energy to dig a hole etc. so should I take it home and release it tomorrow when it’s warmer? Do I just take it to the wooded area after work? Not sure what to do.
EDIT: I released the turtle and everything is all good. This post was originally denied and I didn’t see anyone’s messages until I already decided what to do myself. But yes it seems to be fine & not trying to crawl around the parking lot 🤓
