Why does my boy stretch like this and is he ok?!
I often find him lying around in a splits-like position similar to this one. He's an older gentleman so I think he's just chilling without a care but I wanted to make sure. Is this ok?🤣

The current owner was told it was a male giant galápagos tortoise, but recently found out it is actually female. I was wondering if the species could also be mistaken. I tried looking at charts and photos but I can't tell. Does anyone know? I am really curious. It stood still most of the time and seemed to enjoy being petted.
Hi, I hope I’m in the right place. A turtle laid a large clutch of eggs (she was there laying for quite some time) in a flower bed next to our pool deck. I’m pretty sure she’s a turtle and not a tortoise but please correct me if I’m wrong. I have a couple of pictures and video clips, hopefully these help with identification. Sorry for the poor quality but I didn’t want to go outside and disturb her. We created a corral around the nest to keep the little fuckers from falling in the pool after they hatch. She seemed to be less than a foot in length. We’re located in South Florida next to a small lake. I’m hoping you guys could answer some of the following questions: Is she an aquatic turtle and what kind is she? Once we have hatchlings should we put them into the lake? About how long will the eggs take to develop (so we know when to start watching the nest more frequently)?
about 5 months ago, I noticed my turtle wouldn't eat the food we gave him. The food would be eaten by a couple of snails that hitched a ride on a plant. Bowser (my turtle,) seemed fine, though. He even seemed better than he had before. Today I realized he was just eating the snails.
I came across a turtle sitting in the middle of a two lane road today. I'm not sure of the species but it wasn't an eastern box turtle which I see most often. It was a larger turtle.
I picked the turtle up and moved him about two or three feet off the side of the road in the direction it was facing. As I approached it shelled up but released some liquid from the back right side. I picked it up and it released quite a bit more from the same location.
At this point I'm blocking the road and someone is waiting on me so I didn't inspect or photograph anything.
Was the turtle okay or is that a natural reaction to two-legged predators? I've never seen it like that before and I've moved a few turtles across the road.
baby? Eastern box turtle, seen on my lunch break
Had ours now 22 years he is part of the family.
He is great and very responsive to our voices. Very friendly little chap.
Had an issue with his shell coming away, but took him to the vets, only one 100 miles away and just a slight infection. Got antibiotics and he will be cool.
So anyone thinking if getting one I would say deffinatly as make great pets.
Hi peeps first time heat asking for some advice for improving meals for my turtles😔😔
Currently have two red ear sliders around 6-7 year old (pun not intended) originally my brothers but he moved out and I'm left with them!
Before he moved out he was feeding them straight pellets but I feel like their diet could have been more diverse... Now that they are in my care I wanna get some suggestions of what are some good feeds? I was planning to get some fruits and veggies as well as some sort of meat and mealworms
