This bifold wallet is a hand-crafted leather piece built from high-quality full vegetable tanned leather, designed as a functional artwork rather than a standard wallet.
The front panel features a finely carved and hand-painted composition of a kimono-clad Japanese woman holding a fan. Surrounding details such as falling leaves, soft clouds, and the moon are carefully tooled to create a calm, balanced scene rather than an overly crowded design.
The back panel continues the story with a hand-carved Japanese maple branch and falling leaves, maintaining visual continuity across the piece.
After tooling, neatsfoot oil is applied as a standard part of the process to enrich the leather. The surface is then finished with a warm brown fade over a natural base and enhanced with antique gel, creating depth and a slightly aged, artistic patina.
One of the defining features of this wallet is the interior finish — a smooth gradient fade across the panels, giving it a refined, almost vintage look while keeping the structure clean and minimal.
