An Utter Failure on Making a Reversible Sleeve - Open to Advice or Commiseration

I'm attempting to make a reversible robe, based off of the Thoughtful Creativity YouTube tutorial for a single sided Kimono Style Cardigan, and well... I've learned a lot of things that don't work XD

This latest attempt resulted in the inside and the outside sleeve being sewn together by their bottoms resulting in this double sleeve! All I could do is laugh! At least I tried a mini test version first so it's less of a loss.

For anybody who has made a reversible garment before, do you just see each pattern piece together to make a double sided fabric then sew as normal? Would I be better served looking up tutorials for lined garments?

Anybody else have something turn out so unexpectedly badly?
