I (29F) ran into someone I used to date (33M) yesterday at Starbucks. We started seeing each other early September 2025 and stopped mid October 2025 because he said he wasn’t ready for a relationship. He also mentioned at the time that he was considering moving to DC so he doesn’t think it makes sense to start a relationship. Eventually he stopped answering my calls and texts and I got the message. I was sad about it because I grew a lot of feelings for him. He was sweet and caring and everything that I was looking for.

So imagine my surprise when I saw him yesterday. We chatted a bit and I asked him about DC and he said he moved there for a couple months but now he’s back in Jersey. He ended up telling me that he really misses me to which I just walked away because I’m so tired of this pattern of men telling me they’re looking for something serious but then weeks later they change their mind and ghost me. Only to come back months later telling me that they miss me and wish we could start over.

It’s not right to mess with peoples feelings. If you’re truly not looking for something serious be upfront about that. Dragging someone along knowing they have feelings for you and you don’t will only leave them hurt.
