AITA For Not Taking a Conversation Originally About Bees Seriously?
imma start off by saying this isn’t about me trying to justify opinions/beliefs on current events, i just want to know if ITA or if my friends overreacted. so I (25M) recently told my friends (22F, 23M) about the bee swarm that was in Israel recently. i just thought it was a funny story given recent events and wanted to joke about it, but it turned into them getting upset and going off about “fear mongering” and “speculating on the end of the world.” i was surprised as hell by the response, the conversation wasn’t supposed to be serious but they immediately got aggravated and turned it into one. i decided that i wasn’t gonna indulge in the immediate mood switch and try to keep it as a funny thing, but they got even more upset, and this whole thing resulted in them not speaking to me and ducking me for a week. the first time we hung out after that, i tried bringing it up and they refused to talk about it. again, im not trying to ask yall about politics, religion, etc. i just wanna know if im the asshole in this.
Context for the DXDT section: we were at the 24hrs of Daytona race, and there was a team called DXDT there. i never heard of them prior to that day so i called them “dicksdot” and i was then yelled at for it in front of hundreds of people at the largest race of the season
