I do miss the atmosphere of Returnal. I loved the concept of Selene coming across her own dead bodies to learn the story more. It felt much darker and isolated. Also part of the magic is experiencing a game like this for the first time and a sequel can't capture the same feeling again unless it changes a lot. That's the reason why most of the iterative sony sequels do not feel as magical as the first ones. So nothing against this game on that.

I will say however the gameplay is great so far, even better than Returnal imo. Everything I could think of is an improvement : the progression, the biomes, the actual lore, I love the shield. So I really am loving the game so far, it's just that Returnal felt more magical to me.
