Nikon D3100 Internal Velvet/Foam Deterioration — Urgent Repair Needed?
Hi everyone,
I have a Nikon D3100 and I recently noticed that the internal velvet/light-sealing foam seems to be deteriorating. Small black particles are appearing inside the camera area, and the material looks sticky and worn out.
I’m worried this could affect the sensor, lens, or image quality over time.
Is this something that requires urgent repair, or is it common in older Nikon cameras? Can it still be used safely for a while, or should I stop using it until the foam/light seal is replaced?
Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
