People from a lower ranked university targeting decent tech roles or startups (not FAANG or elite firms), how friendly do you think the job market is for you guys?

My take is that Japan seems the most open and skills focused, Canada, US and UK are equally tough even for non-elite roles, and India is the hardest due to sheer competition.

Does university prestige actually matter where you are or does portfolio and skills carry you further? Would love honest takes from people actually in these markets.

I feel like in some countries your skills matter so much more whereas in other ones prestige plays a massive role even in non elite roles.

Would be interested in hearing your thoughts.
