Hi! I’m looking for a roleplaying partner for an MM enemies-to-lovers slow burn set in an urban fantasy world. Below is the premise I’ve come up with, inspired by a book I read a while ago. Everything can be changed, so feel free to come forth with your own ideas!

By urban fantasy world, I mean an alternative Europe somewhere in the early 2000s, contemporary, but times where technology wasn’t as developed and wasn't as prevelant in as many workplaces, especially in undeveloped areas. The geography, country, names, and local histories can be real, but can also be completely fictional and only loosely inspired by real places and history. I enjoy not having to watch out for geographical or historical accuracy, and we can come up with fun places and history without having to worldbuild from scratch.

We can do 1700s-1800s or even 1500s if you don’t enjoy contemporary, I am flexible when it comes to the setting!!

Premise:

For centuries, vampires and humans have hunted each other. Vampires preyed on humans for food, and humans hunted vampires in turn. The cycle continued for a long time, until a more diplomatic solution was proposed.

A few years ago, the human leading government of a country we chose as a setting, and the more progressive vampire councils signed a treaty. The treaty agreed on humans to stop hunting vampires for the sake of eradicating them, while vampires are to stop killing humans. New systems sprang up to manage this treaty, particularly surrounding the innate need of vampires requiring human blood to sustain themselves. Blood banks were created, regulated feeding facilities, and the system now relied more on willing donors and voluntary contracts. In exchange, vampires began contributing to society, lending their longevity, strength, and heightened senses to fields where humans benefited from their gifts.

A new oversight body governs this treaty, named UNITY, which handles disputes, investigates treaty violations, and tries to keep both sides from sliding back into war.

But the treaty is young, and the relationship between vampires and humans is nowhere near anything positive. Some towns adapt faster than others. And in certain corners of law enforcement, where veteran officers grew up being told vampires were monsters to be eradicated, incapable or being rational, old habits don’t die.

In our town, a small group of older officers has never stopped hunting vampires, in and outside duty. Vampire disappearances and deaths keep getting written off as accidents, runaways, or unrelated cases. And despite the rising suspicion, every UNITY inquiry hits a wall.

Then the bodies start turning up. Human bodies. A serial killer is at work, and the town is suddenly on the edge of panic, the exact kind of crisis that could shatter the treaty if it isn’t handled carefully.

UNITY proposes something experimental and dangerous, a joined investigation. One human detective and one vampire partner, the first vampire ever to join law enforcement. Officially, it’s a project to calm down the public, one to create proof that the two species can work together, proof that vampires aren’t the monsters folklore made them, all while solving the serial killer case.

Unofficially, the vampire has been given a second assignment: find out what’s really happening in this town.

What I am looking for:

  • Strong enemies dynamic at the start and a genuinely slow burn. There should be prejudice on both sides, unwillingness to work together, friction and banter, even strong arguments, and the romance should be earned through genuine moments of change in characters.
  • 21 or older partners only. I myself am 28 and would like someone around the same. I don’t care about your gender.
  • I don’t care about the length of your posts as long as they are of quality and move the story forward. I adapt easily to my partner and can write medium, to long, and to very long posts when needed.
  • I would prefer for the characters to be older, somewhere in their 30s.
  • Posting pace should be flexible. I currently, and most likely for the next few months, will have a lot of free time to spare since I don’t work, but I generally do not do fast-paced posting, or more than 2-3 posts a day. I am perfectly fine with you only posting once a day, or once every other day.
  • 3rd POV past tense only.
