Hey guys,

I could use some advice. I’ve been using a 2560x1080p ultrawide for a while now, so I already love the 21:9 format and know what it brings to the table. However, my current panel is only 75Hz, which is really starting to hold me back in competitive games.

I’m planning a monitor upgrade and I'm torn between making the jump to 3440x1440p (UWQHD) or stepping back to a standard 2560x1440p (16:9) to guarantee maximum frames.

My setup:

  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT (16GB VRAM)
  • CPU: Ryzen 7 5700X

My games: It’s a 50/50 split. Half of my time goes into competitive shooters (CS2, LoL, Fortnite) where I desperately need that 144Hz+ smoothness. The other half is for immersive RPGs – I'm currently gearing up for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

My questions for you:

  1. Will the RX 9060 XT push enough frames in 3440x1440p for heavy titles like KCD2 to feel smooth?
  2. Is it hard to go back to 16:9 after getting used to 21:9? I'm worried I'll severely miss the extra width in RPGs.
  3. For those playing CS/Fortnite on 34" UWs at high refresh rates – does the ultrawide resolution mess with your focus, or is it fine?

Thanks in advance for any insights!
