I played the game for a couple of hours yesterday and noticed that you get bonus EXP when you kill the common mobs 8 times, but apparently you don't get anything when you "master" it in the Codex after 20 kills.

My question is: do you get anything when you kill the same mob 20 times other than the "Mastered" tag in the Codex? Is there a point in doing it?
