I have a 2002 V6 Manual. I dropped out the transmission and replaced the entire clutch kit with aftermarket parts. It was running fine for a while, a few days at least, until one night I took it out on the highway. The gear shifter seemed to get jammed mid shift and it broke OUT of the housing. The whole thing was just loose and wiggling around lmao. The base was all bent so I replaced that because I had to tow it home, as the gears would not engage, and the shifter was ruined. Now any time that the clutch is not pressed in the transmission makes a horrible sound like grinding metal. The shifter still will not engage at all, even though I put a new one in, it’s like it’s just jammed in one position. Could it be the throwout bearing? What could be wrong here? I don’t want to drop the transmission out and replace the throwout bearing unless there’s at least some certainty that I’m right about that problem.
