I wrote Finneas's biography

Hi r/billieeilish,

I wanted to share something I’ve been working on for a long time now: the release of the first full-length biography of Finneas.

I’ve always been fascinated by the story behind Billie Eilish’s rise and the creative partnership she shares with Finneas. The more I followed his work over the years, the more I felt like his influence on modern pop music was huge, yet still surprisingly overlooked outside of the fanbase. A lot of people know the songs, but not necessarily the person behind and everything it means for the writing process, production, and creative direction.

The idea for this book really came from that realization. I noticed that whenever I talked about Finneas with friends, even people deeply into music, his name was often only vaguely familiar or tied to a lot of assumptions. That always felt strange to me considering the career he’s built.

So the book explores his journey from making music in his bedroom to becoming a Grammy-winning artist. I tried to approach it in a way that felt honest and human, focusing not only on the success but also on the creative process, the doubts, the ambition, the relationships, and everything that shaped him along the way. I also hope that it could help others find their own path in art as well knowing what worked for Finneas for example.

If you are interested, I will provide the Amazon link here for paperback, hardcover, and Kindle versions. I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I had fun writing it. And I would love to get your feedback after reading it!

Thanks for your time.

Note to mods: Hope this kind of post is okay here, happy to adjust anything if needed.

Exclusive preview: I wrote Finneas's biography

Hi r/FINNEAS,

Before promoting it more widely, I wanted to share it here first because this community helped along the way when I needed early readers.

Thanks for your time.

Hi r/JohnMayer,

I wanted to give back to this community, which has been incredibly helpful and supportive of this project of writing John Mayer’s Biography. Now that the book is published and after discussion with the mods I’m able to go ahead with it and announce a giveaway of 3 books.

So here’s a simple question to enter the giveaway:
What’s one anecdote about John Mayer that you know for a fact, but not many people may be aware of?

There’s always someone here who knows something unexpected so I’m looking forward to seeing what we could all learn about JM.

And if nothing at all comes to mind (maybe you’ve already read the book so you know all about Mayer :) ) then you can always share a meaningful moment in your life that was soundtracked or inspired by JM’s music. We all have one!

I’ll send out 3 copies of the book to people who take part.

Nothing complicated:

Just reply to the question to enter. I’ll pick 3 people randomly (happy for mods to be involved if that makes it cleaner). I’ll reach out by DM if you’re selected.

When it comes to the How:
If you want a physical version: I’ll just need a name and shipping address and it will take a few days to arrive (5-10 days).
For digital version: email is enough and it will be sent immediately.

Shipping-wise, I can send physical copies to the US, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, and Australia, as long as your area is covered by Amazon deliveries. If you’re elsewhere, I can always send a digital copy.
And everything’s on me, no cost on your side.

I’ll leave the thread open for a bit and then pick the winners.

Curious to see what you all come up with.

I recently published a biography of a well-known artist. I shared it on the dedicated subreddit and got some really encouraging responses, and quite a few books were sold which is nice. Now I’m thinking about reaching out to fan accounts on Instagram, but I’m not entirely sure what the best approach is.

From what I can tell, there are two main options:

Option A: Offer them a free copy and hope they like it enough to share it with their audience.

Option B: Let them know the book is available and hope they decide to buy/read it and possibly share it afterward.

Option A feels more effective, but it also means upfront costs and a bit of logistical complexity.

Option B is much simpler, but I imagine the success rate is lower since it requires more effort on their side.

For those of you who’ve tried something similar (or who run fan accounts yourselves) what tends to work best in your experience? Is there a better approach I’m missing?

Would really appreciate any insights.

Hi r/deadandcompany,

I’m very proud to share with you that I just finalized the first biography of John Mayer.

For some time now I’ve been working on an immersive biography of John Mayer, exploring his life through his music, and vice versa. Given how important his journey with Dead & Company has been, be sure that this chapter of his career is explored in depth.

I recently shared an early preview with the John Mayer subreddit and received some really thoughtful feedback, readers seem to be really satisfied with the book. So I wanted to share the news here as well since JM’s work with D&C brings such a unique perspective on his evolution as a musician.

My goal with the book was to combine a grounded, research-based approach with more narrative storytelling, trying to understand how he became the artist he is today, through both his successes and the setbacks.

Like many of you, I’ve been following John for a long time, around 15 years, and his music has had a deep impact on me. This started as a passion project, years of research, about a year of writing and editing, and honestly, I had an amazing time working on it!

If you are interested, I will provide the Amazon link here. I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I loved writing it. And I would love to get your opinion after reading it!

Thanks for your time.
