As women, are you treated differently on the road compared to male drivers?

Me and my partner both have our own car. To be fair, we split it 50/50. Half the time I drive my car, the other half he drives his when we travel.

Sometimes when I try to overtake another car, they accelerate to prevent me, sometimes causing very dangerous situations.

But over time, I've noticed that it always happens when I try to overtake a car driven by a man. I've also noticed that these situations seem to occur less often when my partner is driving.

Just this morning, I was on the highway. The car in front of me is slow. So I let the car already in the fast lane next to me pass and then I switch lane to overtake the slow dude. He let the first car pass, but as soon as he saw me he started accelerating. So much I had to go back behind him. Then he braked in my face and went back to being slow.

I was wondering if I'm imagining things, if it's just a coincidence, or if you've experienced the same thing?
