Reddit gave me the "Elder" badge and the "Newcomer" badge at the same time. I have been here 10 years.

10 years on Reddit. 10 karma. 9 posts.

The algorithm looked at my history and said: "Elder." It also said: "Newcomer." Both are technically correct and I have nothing to add.

I am actively active in 14 communities and have contributed approximately nothing to any of them. I don't know what I'm doing here but apparently I've been doing it for a decade.

[Trip-Hop Blues] John Henry.exe by Brian 200: Track 1 of an album about AI displacing my work, made with AI

Track 1 of a 9-track album, 404: Soul Not Found?. Out today.

Dark trip-hop blues, 130 BPM. Baritone close-mic, electric slide guitar, slow heavy weight. Made in Suno v5.5.

The song modernizes the John Henry folk myth. A man writes code by hand while watching a model trained on him do the same work faster. The hammer keeps swinging because that's what the body does.

The breakdown strips to voice alone, with the album's disclosure built into the lyric: "I ask this from inside the machine. I use these tools every single day. That's what makes this real."

The album asks what's left of the work when the work changes shape. Curious what people here think.
