Why do Campo del Cielos all have that characteristic knobby look?

Why do Campo del Cielos all have that characteristic knobby look?

Like yes, I understand the entire thing about liquid nitrogen and Campo crystals and stuff like that.

However, surely most of the material would have come from inside the meteorite, which is basically just a solid hunk of metal - so how does shattering it create such a distinctive look? Is it something to do with Campo's iron-nickel crystal structure?

Also if anyone could tell me more about Campo's colour / texture (which honestly seems quite distinct also) that would be great!

First time ever prepping a crab nodule with a dremel 390, and am quite happy about it.

I believe its a Macrophthalmus sp.?

How did I do and any tips to improve?

First (and last for the forseeable future) time at Charmouth!

Fossil hunting at Lyme Regis was always a dream of mine but was quite inaccessible because I live on the other side of the world. Was passing by Charmouth during a trip and made a quick dash down to the beach and was fortunate enough to find this beauty!

The guy at the info center told me it was an Eteoderoceras (I believe?)

It is now safely sealed in mineral oil to protect it from pyrite disease! :DDD

context: i made some poor mans pad thai tonight and had just bought some chili crisp oil i’ve been eager to use!! long story short, i took a bite, about broke my tooth, pulled this thorn looking thing out of my mouth and decided to discard the remainder of my food as this was extremely off putting to me lol. i love chili crisp oil & pad thai so this was really a bummer! what could this be? am i using the chili crisp oil wrong? should i have strained it prior to use?
