A small note about Nodebusters-like

Hi everyone! I'm Ayphil! I'm the dev of a heavily Nodebuster-inspired, but I feel I haven't hit the mark and I'm not making what people really want.

Lurking in this sub for a while, I'm seeing a lot of you all are tired of games with similar skilltrees and progression, which I totally understand.

If I'm being honest, I started work on my game a few weeks after playing Nodebusters, so at that point, there wasn't anything else like it, who could've predicted it would become such a subgenre!

Anyway, I want to ask you all : what would you like to see in a modern incremental game ?

  • Is there a world where a similar game can be interesting? For example, if the skill tree upgrades are meaningful? Or is it simply fatigue from seeing so many games doing similar stuff?
  • What do you particularly like or dislike about the subgenre?
  • What are you favorite incrementals mechanics/concept that you feel haven't been explored enough?

I'm working on completely changing my game loop, and I hope this can spark a discussion that would help me create something truly unique and fun!

- A dev who spent a ton of time making a game which isn't unique enough.
