Hello,
I want to change my 15 years-old computer, for my birthday.
I have a global budget of 4-5 k€, flexible.
I don't have noise constraints. The room is pretty badly ventilated, with a lot of dust.
I will keep my current 2Tb SSD for cold storage. I would like a small-ish (500Gb) disk for system only, and a larger one for everything else.
I need 2 monitors:
- One mainly for gaming, 65cm x 55cm max including stand
- One mainly for web display, vertical, 63cm x 34cm
No need for OS, keyboard, mouse, headphones.
Buying from France.
Usage:
Mainly for gaming, but also development work.
It needs to be able to run modern games for the next 5-10 years.
I don't usually play game with very strong display constraints, such as competitive FPS. More like slow games, RTS, management, or singleplayer FPS like Minecraft or Skyrim.
It needs to handle the next generation of VR headsets.
After a bit of discussion with AI and some people here (in French), I came up with this:

[edit] Tradeoff choices:
- IPS monitor: cheaper, no need to change every 5 years because of burn in, no need for extremely beautiful OLED display
- No water cooling: Don't like the idea of having liquid in my computer, less maintenance for a fan-based cooling
- Meshify vs Fractal Design Torrent: Not enough room to place the Torrent while using the top USB ports, which I need
What do you think?
