RAM not working properly and I'm confused.
I built my PC in 2020 and used it quite a lot for 4-5 years before eventually taking a break which lasted for more than a year. I booted up the PC yesterday and a 'Memory PMU training error' popped up. After opening the BIOS, I saw that only 1 stick out of my 2 sticks of RAM was being recognised so instead of having 32 gigs of RAM, I now have 16. I researched a bit and decided to check if the stick that wasn't being recognised is damaged or not. I switched the sticks and the same thing happened so I realised that it's not the stick itself but the slot. So I took out the sticks from their original slots (2 & 4) and inserted them into :-
1 & 2 - Black screen (Fans kept spinning and RAM lit up)
1 & 3 - Black screen (Fans kept spinning and RAM lit up)
2 & 3 - Black screen (Fans kept spinning and RAM lit up)
1 & 4 - Black screen (Fans kept spinning and RAM lit up)
2 & 4 - Memory PMU training error
3 & 4 - Black screen (Fans kept spinning and RAM lit up)
So I inserted just 1 stick into slot 1, 2, 3 and 4 and only slot 3 works and no PMU error. Not slot 2 or 4 but slot 3 works when only 1 stick is inserted. I'm really confused as to what might be causing the problem.
Please help me out as I was going to sell this PC and build a new one on the AM5 platform but I don't think I'll be able to sell this with all these problems.
Thank you.
