Who Melina‘s parents are (and Messmer‘s)
First of all, I do not write texts like these at all so the formatting will be basic and I will skip a bunch of stuff and assume you already heard it a thousand times.
Melina and Messmer are siblings as mentioned in Messmer‘s Kindling: „The kindling that burned inside Messmer the Impaler.
A dark thing, eaten away at by a wicked serpent.
Burns the sealing tree said to be found at the old Rauh ruins.
Messmer, much like his younger sister, bore a vision of fire.“
Yes yes it‘s not 100% factual, rather heavily implied, to me it‘s clear and I think the majority of the community agrees with this.
Messmer refers to Marika as his mother. This would mean their mother is Marika. Messmer also has Radagon‘s red hair and there is a leitmotif in his OST from Radagon‘s OST. So it seems obvious, that Radagon is their father and Marika their mother.
But what if this is not the case?
Some things that make us scratch our head regarding this, is the serpent with Messmer and the fire with Messmer and Melina. Neither Marika nor Radagon have anything to do with either.
Someone who has to do with both is the Gloam Eyed Queen. What‘s also interesting is that the corpse that Marika pulls the Elden Ring out from also has Snake like features. The same cinematic shows Marika naked at her upper body. The other time we see her naked on the upper body is when she is transforming into Radagon.

Now to the theory. I think, that Marika turned into Radagon, seduced the GEQ, then betrayed her and took the Elden Ring from her. In their relationship Messmer and Melina were born and adopted by Marika. She never told them who their real mother was, because she kept everything that had happened a secret.
This would explain a lot.

Why Marika did not only send Messmer to the crusade but also left him there. She never loved him and this would explain why she didn‘t. Probably even resented him.

She usurped the throne.
The theory ends here, but I will throw out one more thing instead of making a seperate post. We know the GEQ and Marika were empyreans. Some believe that they are the same person, but I think the GEQ was Marika‘s Twin Sister. That‘d also explain why Melina looks so much like Marika.
One question I still have and maybe with the help of the community we might be able to answer this: How did Miquella find out?
Again, it‘s called theory for a reason. I am not saying this is 100% absoloute factual and you have to accept this. You don‘t. I personally think this is what happened, if you wanna stay with another theory that‘s fine.
And some things here might not be 100% accurate, so feel free to share ur knowledge and interpretation and let us improve this theory. Maybe you can add something to this to make it more solid.
