A week ago, I got my first MacBook. Originally, I was going to go for the 13-inch, but when I went to the store and saw how small it actually seemed to me, I just decided to buy the bigger 15-inch one.

I'm coming from Windows after having used it for 10 years, and macOS is just very, very, very good. I didn't have as much trouble as I was expecting in getting accustomed to my Mac! One key thing I had in mind was if my typing speed would notice any changes, but thankfully it didn't. In fact, whenever I switch to using my old Windows device again—rarely, because I still have like 700GB worth of data in there—I don't encounter any issues either.

Well, that was a huge problem solved! And once all of this was sorted, within a day or so, it has just been a wild ride. I absolutely adore the in-built features Apple has than on Windows. The apps actually seem like good software, unlike the Windows bloat. This was something I've been somewhat accustomed to because of the iPhone. Even getting my saved passwords and stuff onto the device has been pretty easy—except for Minecraft, but that issue too got solved with an authenticator.

Enough of what I think though, because I can legitimately keep going on for a pretty long time. Some advice I needed—firstly, the resting areas for my wrist—they've been getting pretty smudgy lately even with just a little bit of sweat (India isn't exactly... cool). Should I get some sort of a cover for that area? If so, any recommendations on Amazon would be great!

Also, for battery life: I had already seen a LOT of posts on this and other subreddits as well, and I therefore know that if you don't intend on using the Air with the battery a lot (which I don't), then you should keep it plugged in. So, that's what I am doing—but whenever I am not using the MBA, I should stop the charging, right? (Might be a dumb question, sorry lol)

Lastly, which sleeve would you recommend that'd be under, say, $20 and preferably between $ 10-15 that'd be good? I've come across two options I'd preferably like to buy: one that's been praised for its quality (it was b/w $15-$20 in my region, don't remember the name, sadly) and had nice bumper corners and another which unfolded to reveal a laptop stand and a mousepad.

I don't really travel a lot with my laptops, it'd just be shifting workstations in my home and seldom taking my laptop to some events (MUNs, debate camps, maybe chess tournaments). Therefore, my parents who gifted this to me for my birthday have been a bit hesitant in getting AppleCare which would be $200 for 3 years (amongst the other options). The thing is, I took pretty much excellent care of my old laptop which I had for the last 4-5 years (ONLY in terms of damage) and it took ZERO damage. And they're saying that "oh, you shouldn't be scared of doing this-this, etc.". I've already explained to them that a) this is pretty expensive, so I don't want to take any risks and b) it also gives me a free battery replacement after the battery health degrades. But to no effect. So, I need the help of all of you people in either convincing me, or my parents. Even though my old laptop didn't receive any external damage, it was pretty internally damaged. Ruined battery, microphone, camera, and the keyboard and trackpad itself was pretty dusty. Now I am cleaning the MBA with a microfiber sprayed with water every day, so that's that.
