Hey all,

I’m trying to find a new pair of daily trainers. I’m currently in the Vomero 18s and like them. I’ve normally run in Pegasus - I like to be able to feel ground and respond to it when I touch down (just not a huge fan of high-max cushion). However, for whatever reason my running style destroys Pegs (& now Vomeros). I was a 400-800 (47.3 & 1:52) runner in college so that might be why I’m not a fan of cushion / why my running style destroys Nike.

I run between 60-70mi/week - 140lbs - 5’10”. My long runs/daily runs are typically 6:50-7:05/mi pace. I’m training for a 15km race in the middle of summer. My current Vomeros have roughly 300mi on them.

I’ve worn the Cumulus 26s, Nimbus 27s, Cloudsurfer 1s, & Novablasts before. The nimbus were fine just too cushiony. Cloudsurfers felt like the Pegs but their “cloud” tech wore down pretty quick. The Cumulus again were fine. Just weren’t wowed by them. The. The Novablasts were okay, but on longer days the cushion/tech was too unstable and caused calf/achilles issues for me.

Thanks for the help!

My gf and I are planning on hiking/climbing Mt Katahdin towards the end of July. I’m looking to Reddit for advice and general knowledge from people who have done the climb before.

We’re planning on staying in the park the night before to get an early start. The way we’re going to go is essentially Knife’s Edge first then take Hunt Trail down (we’ve read that’s the better way to do it).

Planning on each having 2L of water then protein bars, quick sugar snacks, gels, etc. Is there anything else we should plan to bring? We don’t want to have heavy packs since it’ll be a long day and don’t want the extra weight. But would you recommend trekking poles or are those not a necessity?

Do you recommend hiking shoes or hiking boots?

Lastly, we’re planning on doing hikes in the ADKs to prepare for the climb of Katahdin. However, is there anything else we should do to prepare? I currently run 60-75mi per week with long runs of 14-16mi (lasting 90mins to 2hrs) so, I’d say I’m in good shape. My gf works out for an hour every day. What have you done to prepare/will we be in enough shape for the climb of Katahdin?

Any and all advice welcomed, thank you!
