Hi everyone! I’m going to try my best to put everything I want to say in here, but I’m still in a state of shock lol.
To start off, I have been so nervous for the past month since I scheduled this exam. I’ve never been good at taking tests and I get major test anxiety. I also don’t have my exact scores since I just took it today, so I’m going to try my best to remember what I got on each section. (I do know my highest was 100 and my lowest was a 90)
I took A&P, Biology, Vocab and General Knowledge, Math, and Reading Comprehension.
Study Method
I studied lightly for a few months and then very heavily for the 2 weeks leading up to the exam. (Everyday for a few hours)
I used NurseHub, Quizlet, and YouTube.
Anatomy 100%
This is the one score I remember exactly.
I started by watching Crash Course videos on YouTube for all the body systems, which gave me a really solid understanding of the important structures and their functions.
During the last two weeks, I Went through Quizlets that were floating around and Completed every practice test on NurseHub
I know every test is different, so I didn’t want to rely only on Quizlet even though people said it was exact. But honestly, that 30 question Quizlet going around was my exact test.
Math ~90%
Guys, I thought I failed this section so badly. I was really bummed because my program requires at least an 80%. I ended up getting around a 90%.
I only used NurseHub for this section. Since I work in a middle school, a lot of the math was basic stuff I already help students with, so I didn’t study too hard. I just had to brush up on conversions.
Make sure you know:
Fractions to decimals
Military time
KHDUDCM
Gallon Man
Proportions
Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions
Percent to decimal conversions
I didn’t get any Roman numerals (thankfully cause I didn’t study them lol)
My test was very word problem heavy. My school also includes 5 ungraded questions, so I think those were the ones I got stuck on since I still scored high despite feeling like I failed.
Vocab and General Knowledge ~90%
I only used Quizlet and NurseHub practice tests for this section.
It was pretty basic:
Word definitions
Context clues
Filling in correct spelling
Biology ~95%
I used:
Amoeba Sisters to review concepts
NurseHub practice tests
Quizlet
Again, my test was identical to the Quizlets floating around.
Reading Comprehension ~90%
I didn’t study much for this section.
The passages were short
Every answer could be found directly in the text
I skimmed a few Quizlets, and some were exact
I was worried this section would take a long time, but it was actually really easy to skim and find answers quickly.
Timing
I was very concerned about running out of time since that has always been an issue for me.
Total time 3 hours
Finished in about 1 hour 30 minutes
Math took me the longest, but everything else was a breeze.
Last but definitely not least, DO NOT STRESS IT.
I had anxiety every single day for a month. This morning I was freaking out so badly that when I walked in, the girl at check in asked if I needed a moment to grab water because I was shaking trying to sign in lol.
If you:
Study Quizlets
Use NurseHub
Watch Crash Course or Amoeba Sisters
You will be golden.
Coming from someone who is an awful test taker, it is really not as bad as it seems. I hope this post helps calm your nerves.
Good luck everybody, you got this! 💙
