1-2 night resort stay for experiences

Planning next year's Spring trip for my 8 and 9 year olds. We will stay mostly at Beach Club, but I want to do a split stay for the last 1 or 2 nights to a new resort. We did a split stay with Beach Club and AKL this year, and the kids loved having a different fun resort to stay at for the last day. We took advantage of the Starlight Safari and savanna view room at AKL and would want other special activities to do at the second resort next year. We would likely not have a park day at the new hotel so park accessibility isn't a consideration.

Any suggestions for fun hotels for 8/9 year olds that have special activities that set them apart? The Disney website makes most of the resorts sound similar in amenities with Ft Wilderness as the only other resort with unique experiences. I'd love to hear any personal experiences with your favorite fun resort for older kids.
