To keep it brief I’m going to end up in about 200k debt for a mechanical engineering degree. My parents told me that I could just live at home for a few years and pay it off and they’ll help me but they’re already old and I don’t want to leave them with this burden. I should’ve just listened to everybody when they told me to go to my state school.

My mom had me at 40, so I'm about to turn 20 and I had a realization that my mom is 60. When I'm 30, she'll be 70. I can't help but feel anxious that she'll miss a good chunk of my life (grandchildren, etc.) and that my time with her is coming to an end. I also can't help feel jealous of my cousins and friends who'll probably have their parents into their 50s. My mom already regrets having kids late so I don't want to bring this up with her to make her feel bad. I should note that my grandma is 86 and healthy.
