How do I add depth and shading

I am very new to drawing, and this is my first sketchbook. I have been having so much fun with it, but I'd like to be able to layer everything seamlessly, as well as add some depth and shading. Every time I do attempt to add shading or depth, I have no clue what I am doing, and it doesn't ever look quite right. Any advice/critique is welcome 🙏
