Hi, I am new to lava lamps and have some questions!

1. what is everyone’s experience with temperature and run time for grande lava lamps? I bought a dimmer after reading some in this sub, so I can adjust the heat.
2. do I start by running the heat really high and then adjust when it starts to flow?
3. my lava lamp has a lot of wax on the sides after just one run on full heat for about 12 hours (including heat up time) pictures included.
4. any other general tips/tricks to optimize my lava? Thank you all in advance◡̈
