Perfect Crown Byeon Wooseok's Acting
People were hasty about Byeon Wooseok's acting. Him and Gong Seungyeon had the best performances in such a stacked cast. From his microexpressions, he is the type of actor where even when he is not speaking you can tell what his character is thinking. Not to mention his emotional scenes were fantastic. The scene where he ran to check in on her in the hospital and where he confronted Lord Inpyeong were genuinely the best emotional depth scenes I've seen from a male k-drama actor this year.
He really sold the character, which is an ability I think a lot of forgot about since Lovely Runner was so long ago. Even in that, he played several versions of the male lead and was convincing in all of them.
I think the misconceptions about his acting came from people not understanding that the point of the character was to be restrained, royal and disciplined. The character even said at one point, he always had to pick restraint against desire. Now that the story has progressed his character arc has too and we're seeing the Grand Prince give in to his desires and 'lead' the way she does. That's why we are seeing such formidable performances now in the latter half from really all the characters.
I think patience is required to judge these kind of things, cause the criticism over his performance seems ridiculous now that the story has taken off.
