New litter, first time!

Hi! My English lab just had a litter of 8 puppies on 5/6, she’s a first time mom, and this is also my first experience with this so we are both learning! I check in every two hours or less to make sure puppies are eating and warm and that she has food an water as well, at night I’ve been waking up every 2-3 hours to do the same thing, my question is, is this really necessary, do I have to continue to do this? If yes around when can I start to taper it off? I also have a 10 month old human baby, so sleep has been no existent to me between all the babies in the house

We only started sleep training last night but I’m already feel like I’m failing. My son is 9 months old, 10 months on the tenth so I figured it was time to start since we co-slept and he nursed throughout the night and I’m ready for some freedom, anyways, last night was our first night and he did surprisingly great, I fed him and when I first put him in the crib he cried a lot but I soothed him as best I could without picking him up, and then walked out the room, he cried for maybe 5/10 minutes and then sat there quietly until he eventually fell asleep, it took about an hour. Then he woke up around 1230 and cried for a few minutes then went back to sleep with no assistance, slept until about 430 and woke up but no crying but he was awake just sitting there still at 5 am so I grabbed him and fed him and kept him by me and then went woke up for the day at 7. BUT NOW I have not been able to put him down for a nap at all today, he has been napping in his crib for quite some time now so it is nothing new but he would fall asleep while nursing and then wake up every-time I tried to transfer him, I would try and soothe him and even leave the room and let him cry for a bit but he would only get mad and not settle, so he hasn’t slept more then a few minutes today. Is this all just part of the process? What should I be expecting g going forward? Hoping for better luck with sleep tonight then we had with naps today!

I just found out today my 9 month old needs surgery, without going into detail he’ll be under anesthesia for roughly 45 minutes and from my understanding it’s minimally invasive, and while I do know it’s the best choice for him and fully plan on following the advice of our drs and specialists im still just struggling, I hate that he has to go under and just go through this in general it’s breaking my heart, I know there isn’t much to be said but I guess I kinda just needed to rant and get it off my chest a bit, I just hate he has to go through this and that I can’t endure it for him.
