Questions on the complimentary day-of-departure upgrades into global Business Class without points or a certificate for Atmos Titaniums + 1 companion.

If my reservation has 3 people, me, my wife and my kid.

If they have seats the day of to upgrade, do they skip me since my reservation has 3 people? Or they'll upgrade me and my kid and leave the third person in economy?

If they'll skip me, should I book separate reservation so it'll be 2 people on 1 reservation and 1 person on the other reservation?

Anyone knows how this works?
