I made a Suzune Amano edit

(First picture: original design. Second picture: Color and slight clothing edit. Third picture: only color edit plus gloves)

Okay, I know Suzune is based off (or inspired by) Black Rock Shooter. HOWEVER, I decided to tinker around with her design (mostly her color palette) because, from all the girls in Suzune Magica, I find her the most interesting, which is why her design frustrates me. It's so plain! She's a killer with fire powers, yet I feel like the first part scarcely shines through and the second... Yeah, none of that.

Regarding the changes I made:

Colors: The colors are based off of Tsubaki Mikoto's, since she basically was very important for Suzune (iykyk). I made the red a bit more muted, though, since I don't think too vibrant colors suit someone like Suzune. I made her gloves green for the aforementioned reason (right, I gave her fingerless gloves, I think they look cool and make sense for a fire wielder, at least somewhat lol) and the little bows on her boots are now slightly blue to incorporate the blue of her sword into her color scheme. (I know she's supposed to be stealthy, but I feel like her design doesn't tell much. The colors at least hint at her past, so I guess I sacrificed practicality for foreshadowing haha)

Outfit modifications: I tried to give her a more rogue-inspired outfit, especially atop her midriff, so I gave her a big belt and smaller ones over her legs. The main reason for extending her pants is due to both personal preference and presumed comfort, because I feel like her original ones would be hard to fight in. The midriff part is out of personal preference (in this case, again, the Black Rock Shooter reference is acknowledged and makes sense) AND to try to give her more of an assassin vibe. I'll provide an image without these two changes, though, in case you're curious as to how only a change in color would influence her original design.

(I apologize if the rendering is a bit weird, I'm still figuring out how to mimic the original rendering as closely as possible.)

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: I am a fan of Suzune Magica and have nothing against the original design. I don't think it's horrible, just (as I said) a bit plain in my PERSONAL AND SUBJECTIVE opinion. If you like the original, great! Completely fine! If you dislike this edit, or feel nothing towards it, fine as well! Everyone has their own opinions, and I respect that.

I greatly appreciate constructive criticism or suggestions as to how you would improve it, because I find them interesting and always aim to improve! So any and all opinions in that sense are welcome!

Have a good day / evening / night! :D

(Left is original, right is mi edit) Yeah, I don't think I need to explain anything for this one... Also, I changed her pants from white to black to match her top more, and got rid of the black straps sticking out near her face because those were unnecessary, I think. I debated on whether or not to get rid of the "wings" on her back from the ribbon but decided not to because 1) that's just personal preference and I don't think it objectively worsens the design, 2) it's great for her silhouette and 3) they suits her quite well, as much as I personally dislike it. Hair was fine, too, and her weapon, while too cluttered imo, I'm not going to touch because I don't think I could improve it (yeah sorry weapons are not my thing, just clothes and even then I'm not a professional lol).

Opinions? Any constructive criticism is greatly appreciated! :D

Edit: never thought I'd have to say this, but it seems I do. For whomever who likes the original better: great, good for you. If you're going to criticize this post, at least try to justify what you like or not instead of going "what's the point of it" or "you ruined the design" or whatever. Because I justified the changes I made, so I'd genuinely like to hear what makes her showing her underwear so essential to her design, really, I do. Besides personal preference, that is. AGAIN, if you like it, I have nothing against you or your tastes. But I wanted to share what I thought would make a character look better (a totally SUBJECTIVE thing, btw), so there's no point in saying you don't like it "just because", since character design is, its majority, subjective. What I like, you don't have to, and vice versa.

Quick TLDR, then: If you like og, good, that's your opinion and I respect it. If you don't like this post, good too, but please express why so I can understand and improve in the future. If you don't like this post, there is no need to be rude about it. That's about it, have a nice day / night / evening.

(Original design is on the left, the one with changes is on the right) I actually really like her design, and the only reason I changed anything was because I found her midriff part a bit bland. The translucent fabric did look great on her arms and legs, though, so I didn't change it there. Just the middle section or her body, since I feel it transitions a bit more nicely from her cape to her skirt. Also, I feel like now, the black pops more and her body doesn't blend as much into the cape (due to the original's similarity in hue). In all honestly, I'm a bit torn on this one, since I've been tinkering with MagiReco's designs lately and this one isn't even bad compared to others lol.

Opinions? Any sort of constructive criticism is greatly appreciated :)
