I’ve been noticing that every city has certain phrases or habits that instantly give it away.
Like you hear someone say something and you just know they’re from here.
Could be the way people talk.
Could be something about food.
Could be how people react to daily situations.
Curious what people think.
What’s something someone says that instantly feels like this city?

After spending some time here, the biggest thing I noticed is the pace.
Things don’t feel rushed all the time.
People take their time with conversations.
Even busy places don’t feel overwhelmingly chaotic.
There’s a certain calmness in daily routines.
At first I thought it was just because I was new.
But even after a while, that feeling hasn’t really changed.
It’s not slow in a boring way.
Just balanced in a way that’s hard to explain.
For people who live here, is this something you notice or does it just feel normal after a point?

I have done my schooling from Jaipur and I was in a convent school.

Right now I’m in 3rd year of my college and someone reminded me of my school.

My school experience was bad; it was just so toxic and mean to me.

Even though all the teachers really loved me and I was good in sports, academics as well as any co-curricular; there was this one teacher who deserves all the hate.

So there was this one teacher who used to teach SST named Mamta Jain (she never taught me), I’ve had two major bad experiences with her:-

  1. in 5th standard I was the monitor and yk when teacher is not there you’re supposed to write names of students on the board, I was simply doing my job with one another girl (mind you she was not the monitor but she was just doing it) so this teacher barges into our class coz of noise and gets mad at me??? “Go back to your seat” , I told her I’m the monitor and the other girl should go. “She won’t go, you’ll go” then I said but ma’am I’m the monitor- and SHE SLAPS ME SO HARD IN FRONT OF THE ENTIRE CLASS, saying that “mujhse zabaan ladati h..” I was a kid man and that shook me and I was so embarrassed. I even got a bruise. I couldn’t complain about her

  2. I was in 8th standard and this one is major, so there was this notorious guy who had a gf, so it was about when the school got over for the day and I was chatting with my friend near her cab, we see this guy with his gf along with 2 of his friends going inside janitors washroom. Later I get a text from this guy saying “if anyone asks why me my gf went to the janitors washroom, I’ll tell them that YOU gave us a dare to do so” I was like WTF and I panicked and told our school counsellor who told the principal (Rev father) and our father told me to tell this to his class teacher who was Mamta Jain and I told her everything, she said “Ik the kind of girl you are, I’ve seen you talking to boys, you’re also in theatre club you’re very active huh, IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO THIS GUY I WILL MAKE SURE BAD THINGS HAPPENS TO YOU”

Like ????? I tried seeking help but my own class teacher told me to ignore it.

In these situations, as a kid I felt weak and humiliated and to this day it shatters me that how come anyone slut shame me and threaten me to stay silent, along with slapping me.

I need my justice or my revenge, she still teaches at that school and idk if another girl is experiencing what I experienced.

I want my revenge or my justice coz to this day I have that trauma and it fycks up with my well being and my relationship with my professors as I can’t even talk in front of them.

What should I do ??

Something that stood out to me pretty quickly here is how polite people tend to be in normal interactions.

Shopkeepers greeting you warmly.

People speaking very respectfully even in casual conversations.

Strangers helping with directions without hesitation.

It gives the city a very welcoming feeling.

I’ve heard a lot about the culture of tehzeeb associated with Lucknow, and it actually seems visible in small everyday moments.

For people who grew up here, do you feel this culture is still as strong today?

After spending time in bigger cities, one thing that stands out about Gandhinagar is how calm daily life feels.

The roads are wide.

There are a lot of trees around residential areas.

Even during busy hours things rarely feel chaotic.

At first the slower pace felt unusual.

But over time it becomes one of the best parts of living here.

Even simple things like evening walks or short errands feel relaxed compared to more crowded cities.

It’s interesting how different cities shape your routine and energy levels.

For people who have lived here for a while, what do you appreciate most about Gandhinagar?
