Has anyone successfully appealed an OSAP academic restriction after being on probation for 2 semesters? Looking for advice before I submit my appeal.

Here's my situation:

- I was working close to 30 hours/week on evening shifts to financially support my family and help cover household bills

- Because of this I struggled to keep up with my full course load

- On top of school and work I was also self-studying for certifications because I'm close to graduating and wanted to build up my resume

- I know it was a lot to take on but I was doing it all for my future and my family

- Seneca's financial aid office said there's nothing they can do since I was on probation for 2 semesters, so now I'm planning to appeal directly to the Ministry

My questions:

  1. Has anyone been in a similar situation and had their appeal approved? What worked for you?

  2. What documentation helped the most pay stubs, bills, third party letters?

  3. Is it worth appealing directly to the Ministry even after financial aid said they can't help?

  4. Any tips on how to word the letter to make it as strong as possible?

Any advice is appreciated; I'm trying to finish my diploma and get my career started 🙏
