Hi,
Yesterday I scheduled an Uber carrier to Los Angeles from Orange County (1 hour drive). I received confirmation of a pickup and then when I went to bring it to the woman, she did not speak english very well I noticed. I watched her take my item and then accept the ride, but then she realized it was to Los Angeles and wanted to cancel.
There was not option on her app for her to cancel the ride and I was in a rush to get my item (my friends car keys) to Los Angeles, so I cancelled the ride. I did not think I would be charged because of this predicament I was in and the app literally said "You MAY be charged a fee for cancellation" with no cancellation fee showed.
I ordered a new carrier and it went smoothly. However, an hour later I received a receipt of the cancelled carrier of $70 (the original price of the entire Uber carrier). I sent two messages detailing I have picture proof that the woman tried to cancel the ride using her phone (She had sent a message to the Uber Help Center saying she'd like to cancel the ride), and detailing that SHE WAS THE ONE THAT ASKED ME TO CANCEL IT.
Has anyone been in this situation and if so, what can I do to get this fee refunded?? I feel like Uber is just trying to rob me in this situation because she genuinely didn't even leave with my item for one second.
