Kitchen space in my apartment is already cramped enough, so I’m trying to avoid buying one of those giant microwaves that takes over half the counter.

I only really need it for normal stuff like reheating leftovers, frozen meals, quick snacks, and occasionally defrosting meat. Nothing fancy, but I also don’t want one that heats unevenly where the center is still cold and the edges are burning hot.

A lot of compact models seem similar online until you start reading reviews and suddenly people are talking about loud buzzing, weak heating, tiny turntables, or doors breaking early. Makes it harder to tell which ones are actually decent for everyday use.

I’m also unsure if lower wattage is a huge downside for smaller microwaves or if it’s not that noticeable unless you cook a lot with it.

Just looking for something compact that still feels practical and reliable instead of a tiny microwave that sacrifices too much performance to save space.

I’ve noticed most kitchen scale discussions end up circling the same few brands and then people just argue about which one is “more accurate” without really explaining what actually matters for daily use.

I mainly use a scale for meal prep and baking, so consistency matters more to me than fancy features. Even small differences in grams can mess up recipes more than people expect, especially when scaling portions or following baking instructions properly.

There are cheap compact ones, stainless steel ones, and some with extra features like app tracking or different unit conversions. But honestly I’m not sure if those extras actually help or if it’s just marketing and most of them perform pretty much the same for home cooking.

I’m trying to figure out what actually holds up long term without drifting in accuracy or feeling annoying to clean and use every day.

If you’ve used one for a while, do you still trust the readings for baking or did you eventually just stop relying on it for more precise recipes?
