A genuine message to Poshmark sellers from a serious buyer: Give all the details upfront.
I have purchased 10 items this past week and, except for one, ended up buying all on eBay - not Poshmark. What did I buy? 2 new handbags, 2 wallets and 6 bag charms; all for my own personal use. Why not Poshmark? In every instance: too few pictures, sometimes only pictures from the brand’s website, no measurements, no statement of condition, no way to communicate privately with the seller. I understand that part of the issue is Poshmark’s platform. But how much information you choose to give, to the best of my knowledge, is up to you. If you want to save time by giving less info and assume people will ask questions if they’re serious buyers….maybe. But for me - If you’re not giving ALL the information upfront:
- I’m going to question whether you’re hiding something about the item’s condition.
- I’m going to assume you’re too busy and not serious about your business and your items, and that’s a red flag to me.
- It’s easier for me when I get all the information I need to make a smart purchase upfront. Especially on Poshmark because there’s no way to communicate privately with you. I literally will pay, and have paid, more on eBay to avoid the hassle of a return.
As for the 1 item I bought on Poshmark - a beautiful Coach Lana - she posted clear pictures of the item itself - all angles, and the bag arrived in beautiful condition exactly as she described it. I will go back to her again. There are good sellers on Poshmark and there are good buyers available who want to buy your items. I understand there is risk to both buyers and sellers these days. My point is to communicate that “efficiency” doesn’t necessarily translate in to more sales. There are people out there, like me, who are taking a risk by purchasing from someone I don’t know over the internet. I have the whole world available to me and I think we can both benefit if you keep the buyer’s POV in mind.
