Reading requests from Epstein survivors to meet with King Charles III while he is visiting the US was painful. The UK ambassador to the USA is in the Epstein files. The King's brother is in the Epstein files. So is the President of the US. The magnitude of indifference to the sexual exploitation of women and children is hard to bear. I wondered if New Zealand still had a woman prime minister would they have caved to Japan's demands to erase the suffering of they inflicted on 200,000 women forced into sexual slavery? It's not just the glossing over of atrocities, as horrible as that is. It's the erasure of women's history repeatedly across cultures and time. It's baffling how quickly we are erased and our contributions, ideas, and accomplishments are forgotten or credited to men. Our suffering diminished for expediency by men. I'm starting to see this tendency in men as a kind of mental illness, a cognitive deficit that harms every culture. I don't know how else to understand this dismissal of the worth of half of humanity.
